(Photos to follow shortly) This coastal home is located at Baile na Ratha in Dunquin, at the westernmost point of Ireland, in the heart of the Gaeltacht in West Kerry. Ryder Cup Accommodation set in a spectacular elevated position, the house enjoys uninterrupted views over the Blasket Islands, with the Skelligs visible on the horizon on clear days. These dramatic islands are internationally recognised as filming locations for Star Wars, while the surrounding coastline and nearby beaches were famously used in the classic film Ryan’s Daughter, giving the area a rich cinematic and cultural heritage.
The house is presented to a very high standard and is furnished with quality pieces throughout, offering a comfortable and welcoming base for a stay in one of Ireland’s most scenic locations. The accommodation is spacious and well laid out, making it ideal for families or small groups. There are three bedrooms in total, including a master bedroom with a double bed, along with two twin bedrooms, each fitted with two single beds. The property has two bathrooms, both well appointed and practical for group stays.
There are two main living areas, both enjoying sea views and filled with natural light. These spaces provide plenty of room to relax, socialise or unwind after a day exploring the Dingle Peninsula or travelling to Ryder Cup events. The fully equipped kitchen is designed for ease and practicality, and is complemented by two large dining tables, making it ideal for shared meals and entertaining.
At the front of the house is a beautiful conservatory that soaks up the afternoon sun and provides a peaceful place to sit with a book or simply take in the ever-changing Atlantic views. Outside, the house is surrounded by generous lawns to the front and rear, framed by mountains and sea, creating a tranquil and private outdoor setting. Within a five-minute walk of the property is a local pub, serving food and hosting live music, providing a lively and authentic taste of Irish culture just a short stroll away. For those who wish to explore the area by bike, both traditional bicycles and e-bikes can be rented at Kruger’s Pub in Dunquin.
. The house is within walking distance of Dunquin Pier, the Blasket Islands Viewing Point and Cultural Centre, and several scenic stopping points along the world-famous Slea Head Drive. Dunquin Pier and Slea head beach is a popular spot for swimming and snorkelling, while the surrounding cliffs and coastal paths offer unforgettable walks in all seasons.
Ceann Sibéal Links Course, one of Ireland’s most historic and authentic links golf courses, is approximately a ten-minute drive from the house. Renowned for its traditional layout, rugged coastal setting and welcoming clubhouse with bar and restaurant, it offers a genuine Irish links golf experience in an unspoilt landscape.
A short drive brings you to Ballyferriter village, which offers a lively yet traditional atmosphere with a museum, gallery, pottery studio, a well-stocked local shop, and a selection of pubs and restaurants. Just beyond Ballyferriter, Dingle town is approximately fifteen minutes from the property and offers excellent amenities, including large supermarkets, a wide choice of outstanding restaurants, traditional pubs, cafés, shops, galleries and craft stores. Visitors can also enjoy The Skellig Hotel, featuring a gym, sauna, swimming pool, and spa facilities. This vibrant harbour town is known for its food scene, music and welcoming atmosphere, and provides a perfect balance to the peace and seclusion of Dunquin.
Ferriter’s Cove, a stunning beach steeped in history and featured in Ryan’s Daughter, is nearby, as are the beautiful beaches of Smerwick Harbour. Coumeenoole Beach, one of Ireland’s most iconic Atlantic beaches, and the unforgettable Dunquin Pier are also close at hand.
Golf enthusiasts are also exceptionally well catered for, with Tralee Golf Club, an Arnold Palmer masterpiece consistently ranked among the finest links courses in the world, located approximately one hour’s drive from the house. The wider area offers something for everyone, from archaeological sites and ancient landscapes to excellent seafood restaurants, lively pubs, fishing, cycling and watersports. The Slea Head Drive loops through Dunquin, Ballyferriter and Ballydavid before returning to Dingle, offering some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in Ireland.
For Ryder Cup visitors, the house provides a memorable and peaceful coastal retreat, combining world-class sport with world-famous scenery. Adare Manor is approximately two to two and a half hours’ drive away. Kerry Airport is approximately one and a half hours away, with Shannon and Cork airports both reachable within two to two and a half hours. A car is essential to fully enjoy the area.
