Birr itself is 130 year old parkland club with rolling hills and natural eskers. Birr also boasts of the famous Birr Castle and gardens once the home of the O'Carroll clan where now resides the Earl of Rosse and his wife lady Rosse. Both the Castle and gardens are open to the public.
