LOCAL AREA: Monkton is a small village in South Ayrshire, easily accessible from Glasgow, and conveniently located just a few minutes’ drive from Prestwick Airport. Locally, the village has a shop, post office and pub offering bar meals. Prestwick is just a 7 minute drive away; a vibrant town with an abundance of restaurants, bars & boutique shops. Troon town centre be reached in 7 minutes, and like Prestwick, offers a range of eateries and shops. Being a coastal location, there are a number of beautiful beaches to visit, scenic walks, and places of interest. There are large supermarkets in Prestwick, Ayr and Troon - all of which offer a click & collect or delivery service.
There are train stations in Prestwick, Troon, and at Prestwick Airport - all of which are within a 5-7 minute drive. There are also a number of local taxi services in the area.
The Open at Royal Troon is around 7mins by car, and there are a number of other golf courses in the area including the home of the first Open Championship in 1860, Prestwick Golf Club.

The Monkton Windmill was originally an early 18th century vaulted tower windmill the site of an Iron Age hillfort in South Ayrshire, Scotland. It was later converted into a dovecote and stood on the lands of the old Orangefield Estate.

the first home of Robert Burns, in Alloway, South Ayrshire, Scotland was built by his father, William Burnes in 1757. Burns, Scotland's national poet, was born there on 25 January 1759. It is a four-roomed clay and thatch cottage and has been fully restored to become part of the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.
