The Open 2023 Accommodation
Available for 4/5 guests, this self contained 2 bedroom accommodation is situated in Greasby, central Wirral. This lovely first floor apartment is located on one of the designated Park & Ride routes for attending the 2023 Open Championship.
If you are planning to travel to the event by car the parking outside Royal Liverpool Golf Course will be restricted and attendees are advised to make use of the park & ride facilities which are well organised with dedicated buses taking you directly to the course. The apartment is a straightforward 2 minute drive away from the nearest park & ride venue and the route is well signposted. Tickets for the Park & Ride can be purchased in advance. Alternatively, leave the car and a 10 minute walk will take you to the Park & Ride buses which are free to use.
The apartment is situated on the first floor, above a shop on the main road. It has a front door at street level, with a hall providing handy storage for your coats and golf clubs, then a staircase to the first floor accommodation which has a bright sunny lounge with TV/DVD player and DAB radio and CD unit. The separate kitchen is fitted with modern units and has oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave and washing machine. There's also a fold-down table seating 4/5.
There are 2 bedrooms which have flexible bed configurations to suit guest requirements. The larger room has a single and a small (4 foot) double bed. The smaller room has twin beds which can also be arranged as a super king size (6 foot) double bed if required and additionally there is a slightly shorter 3 foot trundle bed which can be brought into service in either bedroom if needed. These 2 rooms will comfortably accommodate 4/5 guests, with the possibility of a 6th on the trundle bed (but the room will be a little cramped).
The fully tiled bathroom has a bath with electric shower above and a vanity wash basin. The toilet is separate. Bedding, towels and basic toiletries will be provided.
The location is on a main bus route, with a bus stop right outside. Buses go to West Kirby with it's beach, many shops and cafe culture in one direction and to Birkenhead and onward through the Mersey tunnel to Liverpool in the other. In the immediate green, semi rural area of Greasby there's no shortage of local shops and supermarkets with handy take-aways, cafés, restaurants and pubs/bars within walking distance. There is a park over the road and just a short stroll up the road is a village green area with more local shops, a library and a small Sainsburys, in addition to 2 very welcoming pubs, another serving lunches and evening meals and the Manor restaurant (probably best to book in advance to ensure a table here).
Take a few days and in addition to the golf (and the many local golf courses to visit), enjoy the Wirral peninsula itself, it's a lovely place with interesting villages such as nearby Frankby or Thurstaston with it's sandstone hill to explore and lovely panoramic views from the top. The coastal spots such as Meols, New Brighton and West Kirby with its views over to Hilbre Island are very scenic and Hoylake itself will be lively and buzzing for this event, welcoming many visitors (celebrities amongst them).
Junction 2 of the M53 motorway is only 3 minutes drive away and this will take you further afield to Cheshire Oaks massive discount retail outlet or visit Ellesmere Port Boat Museum, then carry on to explore historic Chester (don't forget Chester Zoo) and North Wales, or follow the M53 in the other direction to the Mersey tunnel and visit Liverpool itself.
Rental period is for the full 9 days of the Open Golf competition (from 15th to 24th July). A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure booking, with balance at least 2 days before arrival. Please email for further details or photos and to discuss your requirements.
Please note; this home rental for The Open is unsuitable for very young children due to stairs. Parking is available on street and in the service road immediately outside.
