The Open Championship will return to Royal Lytham and St Annes for the first time in 16 years, the Lancashire course is confirmed as the host of the 156th Open competition. Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club was founded in 1886, with its current 18-hole course constructed in 1897, and later renovated by Harry Colt. The club received its "Royal" title in 1926, the same year it hosted its first Open Championship.
