Accommodation for the Women's Open at St. Andrews Fife - Orchard Cottage, Lunan Bay, is a large detached house just 30 seconds walk to the 2 miles of sandy beach of delightful Lunan Bay. The house is down a private road, stopping at the beach which is very quiet and has no parking or access other than by foot or horseback.
Large drive area with gate. Beautiful gardens with open and covered seating seating throughout. A shepherd's hut to relax in. South facing house with lots of light.
The house has 4 rooms made up as bedrooms, 2 king, 1 double and a 4 poster single.
2 bathrooms, one with shower, one with bath, both have toilets, sinks. Kitchen, dining room with large table, living room downstairs with TV and a second living room upstairs. A further peaceful room upstairs for reading, yoga. Excellent Internet signal.
This house sits under the 12th century ruins of Redcastle, the well for the castle is in the garden. Spectacular views from the castle just 1 minute walk from the house. Wonderful sea views from the garden and house. Beach is sand with the river Lunan flowing into it.
It's a 65 min drive to the Women's Open St Andrews Golf courses, passing Carnoustie golf course (9 miles) and Arbroath golf course (6 miles) on the way. Heading north is the well known Montrose course (6 miles). There are also courses at Forfar (9 miles) and Brechin (9 miles). And many more within an hours drive.
Bird watchers heaven and a gardeners delight. Many great places to visit in Angus such as Glamis Castle, Dunnottar Castle, distilleries, private houses and National Trust properties. Fine dining in Inverkeilor and lovely places to eat such as Arbikie Distillery. 10 min walk to hotel pub and bar food on other side of river.
