Craighead is a traditional Scottish stone-built farmhouse near Dunblane, Perthshire, the family home since 1990. It offers you a delightful location in which to spend your Ryder Cup visit.

What makes it special is the setting combined with the very high standard achieved. It is unique in its quiet country setting, surrounded by natural gardens, a lochan and woodland areas. We have wonderful views, sunsets and privacy, yet thanks to our location we are ideally place to base yourself for easy access to some of Scotland’s finest country and tourist attractions.
Strike out from here to visit Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Edinburgh or Glasgow or head north for the Highlands, Scotland’s National Parks or the mountains and lochs of the Trossachs. Only a mile and a half from Cromlix House, newly renovated by Wimdeldon champion Andy Murray. Why not treat yourself to lunch or dinner at this must visit venue being overseen by the Roux brothers.

For golfers it couldn’t be better with an array of golf courses available including the famous Gleneagles, walkers and cyclists will find this an ideal base to return to in the evenings.

Or simply relax surrounded by peace, tranquility, wildlife and our variety of animals and poultry. Our free range hens will provide you with your breakfast, eggs can be found in the honesty box at the bottom of the lane!

When the day is drawing to a close it will be time to sit under the stars perhaps by a fire or BBQ and possible enjoy a dram or two.

The Muckle Howf is a traditional Scottish stone-built steading converted into a luxury holiday cottage. What makes it special is the setting combined with the very high standard achieved in the convertion of the steading which has been awarded 5 stars by the Scottish Tourist Board.

It offers three double bedrooms all with their own en-suite. The master bedroom has a large glazed wall to optimise the views and also has an en-suite bath with shower. The two further bedrooms have the facility to be converted to twin or double rooms depending on the make up of the party.

Upstairs is also home to the ‘whisky lounge’, this room has wonderful views through the glazed gable with a patio style door to ensure you get the true feel of the country and the best of the view. It boasts large comfy sofas, wooden beams and of course a wee dram for you to enjoy.

Downstairs in the cottage you will find the sitting room, again with big comfy seating, wide screen television, library and a wood-burning stove to ensure cosy evenings for our winter visitors.

The large kitchen/dining room is bright and airy, it also has a large glazed patio door area to maximise the views and the light. The kitchen has been fully equipped to ensure that everything you need is to hand, the utility room means that you have washing machine/dryer, freezer, additional fridge and ironing facilities all to hand but tucked away.
Downstairs also houses the sauna room. Here there is an invigerating shower, infra red sauna, toilet and wash hand basin. The hall out to the back door is the ideal space to house golf clubs, coats, shoes etc.. and also has a large wall map of Scotland to help with your planning. There is full oil fired central heating throughout. The Muckle Howf has its own private garden/patio/hot tub and parking area, which is completely secluded.

The holiday cottage has its own private parking space, patio area with chairs and table, BBQ area, decking with additional seating and private hot tub. You are surrounded by wildlife but should you wish to wonder down to the pond, through the woodlands or up to the main garden you will come across our many animals and poultry. Our two highland cows enjoy a titbit of bread in exchange for photo opportunities.


Totally secluded with amazing views of the lochan and coutryside beyond, you are immersed in the environment but have a very special place to stay. This romantic cabin for two lets you experience camping with a difference. Fully insulated with a log burning stove and candle light - no there is no electricity, but you will be provided with everything you need to make this an amazing place to stay at any time of the year. The Wee Howf is built on stilts, amongst the trees with a burn running right underneath!


The Summer Howf is a delightfully renovated Summer House complete with its own electricity. It is furnished to give you a feel of camping but most definitely in a garden style.

The Summer Howf is totally secluded amongst the trees at the very top of the garden alongside the duck pond with the ducks as your neighbours. Walk over the bridge to see the Rhea and Turkey’s.

Large plants and shrubs edge the burn as it wanders down the garden. A delightful canopy covers the patio area where you will find everything you need in the camp kitchen. In addition a lovely gravel area is home to a fire pit/BBQ with additional seating. You will be spoilt for choice – eat at the bench, by the fire or wander behind the Summer Howf to a small private clearing. When the sun shines take the picnic blanket and lie under the amazing Ash tree only disturbed by the ducks and birds. With a distinctly European feel the Summer Howf is furnished tastefully with all you will need and more – there is even a hammock in the Howf to while away the odd half hour in!

Travel and access restrictions are planned for this event. Venue access for Ryder Cup ticket holders via park and ride schemes and scheduled transportation services to Gleneagles.
